How to Set Up Your Free Government iPhone

Step 1: Power On

Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears. Follow the "Hello" screen prompts.

Step 2: Connect to Wi-Fi

Select your Wi-Fi network. If none available, your cellular data should work for initial setup.

Step 3: Set Up Face ID / Touch ID

Follow prompts to set up Face ID (iPhone X and later) or Touch ID (iPhone 8 and earlier).

Step 4: Create Apple ID

Create a free Apple ID if you don't have one. This gives access to the App Store, iCloud, and more.

Step 5: Set Up iMessage & FaceTime

Enable iMessage for free texting to other Apple devices. Enable FaceTime for free video calls.

Step 6: Install Essential Apps

• Health: MyChart, GoodRx, telehealth apps
• Communication: WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger
• Productivity: Google Maps, Gmail, Calendar
• Benefits: Your state's benefits portal app

Step 7: Enable Accessibility (if needed)

Go to Settings → Accessibility to enable larger text, VoiceOver, hearing aid support, and other accessibility features.

• Enable "Display Zoom" for larger icons
• Turn on "Bold Text" for easier reading
• Set up Emergency SOS and Medical ID
• Enable "Find My iPhone" for safety
